So my experience in Cochabamba with Bolivia Digna was without a doubt.... amazing ... will I volunteer again, most definitely!!
Why you might ask, it simply opened my heart and my mind. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to the wonderful Bolivia & work in the local projects with the children & what a place it is!
It was the smiles of all the children in the project and how they loved to be affectionate and be shown affection is what amazed me every day. It simply gives you that warm glow ....
As a volunteer, I worked on different tasks helping the children with learning the alphabet, singing songs, doing arts & crafts, to playing Pesca Pesca in the playground & other games. We would work on social skills encouraging the children to remember to use their please & thank you's to teaching them how to wash their teeth. We would teach them how to share & work together as a team . You get involved in hands-on work that meets the immediate needs of the children while contributing to the bigger picture... their future
Cochabamba, a large bustling city with lots going on especially eating options. I definitely put on a few pounds! You will find everything you need & the wi-fi is brilliant. Staying in the volunteers house was simply home from home, you are minded & cared for so well. And Bolivian culture is absolutely fascinating...the thriving culture is visible in La Cancha colourful market, in the way people dress, and in many aspects of everyday life. I was absolutely fascinated by the Indigenous women These women wear their traditional dress, which includes brightly coloured layered skirts, patterned shawls, massive gold earrings and bowler hats.
Volunteering was always on my bucket list, I volunteered to enrich someone else's’ life; I didn’t realise how much my life would be enrichened –
