"I looked into volunteering to pay forward a little bit of the love and support I received"
Hi, my name is Cornelia and I'm from Germany. When living in the US I got to know the concept of paying forward. We receive so much during our childhood and whole life and we’ll never be able to pay back for example what we received from our parents. Love, time, support and believing in us. That’s one of the reasons I looked into volunteering to pay forward a little bit of the love and support I received.
Through Love Volunteers I got to know Bolivia Digna in Cochabamba, Bolivia and I’m very happy that I can work here for 2 months. I spend most of my time with the little children in Mercado and at times I’m not sure who’s having more fun I preparing the projects or them doing the arts and plays. Every day we do something else and we all learn together while doing it. When was the last
time you made a caterpillar out of hearts and thought about how to best cut an even heart? Also we have a weekly science day and one week we had a blast building the solar system, learning the names and main characteristics of the 8 planets and playing planet memory. There’s also playtime every day and I enjoy playing with the kids on the swings or just running around playing catch.
I feel very much at home in Cochabamba also because of my friends who took me into their home and made me part of their family.
